Looks like it might be a Tacoma PreRunner to me. |

This should be listed as a "Toyota Hilux" as it is a SWB 4x4 with a fibreglass shell of some kind over the cargo bed. The 'DX' in that link refers to that trucks trim level (base) and is not it's model name. Toyota compact trucks of this vintage did not have a real 'name' in US market (where link is from) except for 'pickup', etc. though they are called Hilux in the rest of the world. |

Actually hiergehts, Toyota Pickups in the US were called Hilux thoroughout much of the 1970's. The Tacoma was the name given to smaller pickups after the mid-sized T100(later Tundra) was introduced, and the PreRunner is the name for the Tacoma's with higher ground clearence with both 4x2 and 4x4 models. -- Last edit: 2006-04-11 04:06:56 |

looks like about a 1998. The fiberglass is called a canopy in NZL and are are on at least half the utes (short for utility (or pick ups)) here. |
