There were Beetles made in 2003, but this definitely one of the older Beetles. I would say early '70s. |

From this distance, it seems to be a match: Body color, white-walls on color-coded rims, two-tone dash, dual mirrors, then the engine lid, taillights, front indicators are correct for 2003. |

I expected this but you were very quick on the trigger Model years span in the most extreme cases from 1/1 the year before until the end of any given model year, by definition. Take the famous Mustang, or any fairly modern US car |

1960 Edsels were cancelled before 1960. The last ones were made in November 1959. One year later the same thing happened to DeSoto, the last 1961 DeSoto was made on 30 Nov 1960. |
