The side striping looks like a 1941 Studebaker, but the movie is from 1938... |

Looks short enough in the nose to be a Ford. |

It is this car - /vehicle_167741-Ford-V8-30-hp-78-1938.html. I am not sure if the identification is correct or not. |

This is a very interesting picture .It is a 1937 Ford V8 DeLuxe Phaeton ( without the center posts as shown on the other picture). What looks like a side striping from a later Studebaker is in fact a popular accessory that was developed by a St. Louis , Montana firm. It is a combination of molding and beading consisting of a streamlined radiator grille extending into a series of raised molding strips running along the belt line and ending in a narrow sweep at the rear .This accessory made the 1937 Ford appear longer , lower and smarter. The strips were available in different colors .The other picture also shows that the car is equipped with rear fender skirts. |

I've just seen the 1944 "Maisie goes to Reno" with Ann Southern. Near the end of the movie a camouflaged 38 Ford Phaeton is used and it has the accessory molding. Probably the same recycled car. |
