As the taillights are above the bumper, I believe this is a Series 1. |

4.2 |

Maybe, but 4.2 had 3 lines of badging on boot and I'm not convinced they're present - 3.8 only had 2. If it's a 4.2 = Oct 64 onwards. |

The 3.8 had "JAGUAR", 4.2 had "E TYPE", "JAGUAR", & "4.2". This appears to have more than one. Not aware of a second badge on the 3.2. -- Last edit: 2011-03-29 05:03:28 |

4x4peru's comment made me think about this badging and use of XK-E name on imcdb. As far as I know there was never any XK-E badging anywhere on a US E-type, so it was only a marketing name. Up to 1964 there was no specific E-type badging either, but after the 4.2 introduction in Oct 64 all cars - US and elsewhere had - E-type boot badging. So was XK-E name used in any way after Oct 64, given that it would contradict the badging? Should we abandon using XK-E?? If so, for which cars/series/dates? -- Last edit: 2011-03-29 13:43:36 |

I only know a little about Series I E-types and enough distinguishing features from the 3.8 & 4.2. Not enough to stir conflict. |
