@Nightrider: until 1970 there were DS and simpler ID models, since 1971 the ID was replaced by DSpécial and DSuper, since 1973 also DSuper 5, so actually yes, DSuper 5 is the same as (or rather a newer version of) the ID, although with a bigger engine and a 5-speed gearbox.

Strange name for low-rank model.

DynaMike NL

2011-05-06 19:10

That's true... In Citroën speech Spécial means lowest trim version, Super means bigger engine (and 5 means 5-speed gearbox).

DS-DSpecial-DSuper ranking looks more logical.

DynaMike NL

2011-05-06 19:17

True. I guess it was like that because everybody used the name DS even for ID versions, but there had to be a difference with the upmarket DS models...

Nightrider RU

How much actual differences between that DSuper 5 and DS?

DynaMike NL

2011-05-06 20:09

Most important difference was the brake: DS had a small rubber knob and the DSpécial and DSuper (like the older DS) had a 'normal' brake pedal. Also some small differences in trim and sound-isolting material.

Only pedal, or whole braking system was different?

DynaMike NL

2011-05-06 20:25

The whole brake system, more influence of the load of the car to the distrubution of the brake power.

This is the only car from Wheeler Dealers that I haven't been able to track down since it appeared on the show 12 years ago. Endless amounts of searching for it have turned up nothing.
