Driving through Greece about ten years ago - from Patras to the Macedonian border - I noticed that, while almost everywhere else in Europe it was possible to recognise, for instance, the words for 'bus' or 'police', in Greek it was impossible (Λεωφορείο, χωροφυλακή) In German, I believe the phrase is Es ist mir böhmische Dörfer, 'it's Bohemian villages to me'. |
