I read long time ago that the notchback was never officially available in the US, but a few thousand were sold through U.S. officer serving in Europe, furnishing cars with Canadian specifications adapted to the US ones. I saw one of these in 1999 in Portland, Oregon. |

It's a 1966/1967, I think. It's only written "Volkswagen" on the trunk. It's the old style. The first ones had a little "1500" underneath it. After 1969 there was a "1600" and the letters were in the new-styled design. It looks as a basic version (no headrests and seatbelts, too). |
