Bedford J1 (most of the panels were carried over from the A type but the hooded headlights show this is the later model). |

Rather than J1 an actual Bedford brochure shows this as the J0 ½ Ton Pick-up. http://ccmv.aecsouthall.co.uk/p30952133/h24e60497#h23778fff ![]() |

It looks so .... um ..... silly. Quote - "Of 5200 built and 25 surviving J0s this is one of the rarest Bedfords ever made" - http://www.flickr.com/photos/austin7nut/5676179443/ . Seems pick up body may have been built by B. Walker and Son - 1st para of http://www.truckman.co.uk/t/Company . Gallery at http://dayerses.com/bedford-j0.html . Seems 1960+, but some had the Cresta 3,293cc inline six (after 1963?) so should have been fairly quick - http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggerscarstuff/3960253918/ . |

It was initially made for export only and introduced in September 1958 to compete with the American pick-ups in all overseas markets. It was not sold in the UK until at least a year later in 1960. |
