The tank is a French Built AMX13, but it has been converted by the French to carry the turret of an American M24 Chaffee, giving more room internally than the standard AMX13 turret..
The Trailer is a Rubery Owen 10 Ton Light Recovery trailer, and like the Antar this is ex British Army.
The Antar is a Mk3.
This is not one of the three prototype Mk3 Antars because the positioning of the headlights is wrong. The Prototypes were built in 1959, The three registrations are not all known, but one was 16 CL 78, and it is likely the other two were in the CL series.

If the Antar is registered in the DM series, it is one of 150 built under contract KL/H/0763. This contract was placed in 1961 and all vehicles were delivered by 1963, Registrations were 11 DM 93 to 13 DM 42

In 1963 a further 55 were ordered under Contract WV/1817. These were given registrations 50 EK 30 to 50 EK 84.

The last mk3's built were two further examples built in 1963 under Contract WV/3484 These were 28 ES 11 and 28 ES 12.

The Antar therefore was built sometime between 1961 and 1963.

The "GK" 1975 registration is either a misreading of an EK plate, or someone has "Wrung" the vehicle with the identity of a totally different, and later, vehicle. No Antars were built after 1963 and none carried the GK serials. I cannot make out the reg from the photo provided but probably it is EK not GK.

A few Antars carried Civilian registrations and these went to FVRDE as CYY 725C, NGY 75, NGY 560, NGY 561 and RGX 982. These were drawn from the above contracts, so again none was built later than 1963.

The only remote possibility is that one of these FVRDE (Fighting Vehicles Research and Development Establishment) civilian registered Antars found its way to the army as a service vehicle, and it was given a registration appropriate to the year it went into Army service. Ie it was at FVRDE from 1961/3 running on civilian plates, but in 1975 it was released to the Army for active service and on entering the Army it was given a current GK registration. Whatever has happened, the Antar is at least 12 years older than the plate suggests. The 1975 date needs ammending.

The second digit if the registartion seems to be a 7 so this Antar cannot be wearing its correct Military service number, unless the possibility I suggested at the end of my last post is actually true, since all the Production Mk 3 Antar reistrations are known, and none have a 7 as the second digit.

Yes, most probably a false registration for filming purposes.

Thank you antarmike.

And these two

Bruno, Your First link is to John Attlee's mk2 Antar, (also known as Viscount Prestwood, Clement Attlee's grandson.), your second link is to my C6T Mighty Antar, Your Third link is to Brian Baileys Mk3 Antar. This Mk3 was a prototype for the Pakistan army, but they did not accept it. It went to the Army. Note it does not have headlights revealed thgrough holes in the bumper, but they are underslung alongside the turn/ foglights. This is why i said the Dempster/Makepeace Antar is not a prototype, since all had underslung headlights, not holes in the bumper.
Sorry , but can't get last link to work.
