What are the differences between the two? Which is the more common one (eg. Dodge Diplomat seems to be more common as a police car than the Plymouth Gran Fury)? |

I don't have much information on the R-bodies and it's hard to say as unlike the M-body Diplomats/Gran Furys, these only had a three year run. The Chrysler Newport was available as a fleet car for the 1979 model year. The Plymouth Gran Fury was available from 1980-1981. The only cosmetic differences are with the tailights, as well as the name script on the front grille (which is obviously too far away to distinguish). |
