explorer4x4 wrote There is a Ford F-600 of the same generation as this one in Maximum Overdrive and a 1980 F-700 in the opening credits and a F-700 (the Ryder van) as a backround vehicle also in Maximum Overdrive.

Actually, it's from the previous generation as the Ryder Van. This one was made between 1973 and 1979.

You're all wrong. The Ryder van was a 1980's ford F700. Anyway, I have to say that this a big cherry-picker!

Well, that sucks. It looks like a nice one.

It does suck that it was scrapped. I have been searching all over the internet for trucks with the same specs (crew cab, etc) and have not been successful yet. It seems this truck is pretty rare. Is it possible to modify it to look like the one in the movie?

You can use exisiting F-Series Crew Cab assembly with medium duty front clip. That would work.

When I was 8, my friend's dad was a foreman for the hydro company. He organized a tour of the facility, where my brother and I got to ride in the bucket of a truck just like this one. Also got to tour the rest of the yard as well. Those were awesome times, I think that is why this is my favorite truck in the movie:)

Well, I had a strange felling about that class of trucks. (not the cherry picker)

This truck actually does quite a bit. It kills two characters, almost kills the snobby teenager, smashes the Apache to pieces, severely damages the Malibu, plows through a shed, and eventually tries to kill the survivors. It fails to do this and instead gets stuck on a hill, it reverses back down the hill and presumably survives making it the only truck to not get destroyed during the film.

This is a F700, because there is a scene where it drives past the camera and the f700 badge is visible.

Visible in Opal's third thumbnail, this is an F-700 model.
