South-African front reflectors: made for ZA. Looks more like a panel van than a Kombi, but how were these called in ZA? And were these VWs built locally, or imported from Germany or Brasilia or somewhere else? |

AFAIK VW has always produced the Typ2 (from T1 to T5) in ZA for the local market. Yes, it's a Transporter/Panel Van and not a Bus/Kombi. Only the Transporter has a closed or semi-closed drivers house. I don't know, for what use this version was used in ZA. In Germany this Transporter with the higher plastic-roof and the semi-closed drivers house was originally made for the Bundespost as parcel-delivery-van. When they were sold as used cars, many ambulant ice cream-dealers have converted them. ![]() P.S. 1973+ T2b |
