Somehow this doesn't feel like an FD Victor. Could it be a Swiss-made Ranger? (It seems to have a Zürich registration.) Look at the windscreen: it's the wrong shape for an FD, but ... /vehicle.php?id=120140 -- Last edit: 2010-07-08 17:04:13 |

Would that be "Model origin: Belgium, Built in: Switzerland" ? |

Yes, I believe the Swiss production was actually assembly of CKD kits imported from Belgium. I think this may be a 1.9 litre Model A, 1970-2. |

Model origin were not South African? I remember production in South Africa began in 1968, later early in 1970 in Belgium and later in the same year in Switzerland. |

Good point, but according to Wikipedia: 'The brand was used in conjunction with two markets, an automobile marketed as "South Africa's Own Car", built in Port Elizabeth from 1968 to 1973, and another model range that was produced from 1970 to 1976 in Antwerp, Belgium, by General Motors Continental SA. General Motors Suisse SA from Biel-Bienne Switzerland also produced Rangers from 1970 to the factory's end in August 1975.' This seems to suggest that there were two separate ranges, the ZA one and the European, the latter originating in Belgium. |

The South African and Belgian Rangers were all but identical in appearance, with only minor trim pieces differing (SA models used Vauxhall wheel covers, etc.). The main difference was under the bonnet, where the Belgian models used Opel 1700, 1900 and 2500 Rekord/Commodore engines, but the South African Ranger used the 2.1 and 2.5 four-cylinder units derived from the Chevrolet Six Motor. |
