1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera P.S. Built in CDN, as it's filmed there. I know this, because such a car was my first contact with an American car, at my school exchange to Vancouver in summer 1988. My host-family had one, also a 1977 GMC-van, also CDN-made. They were/are (I still have contact with my friend) very proud Canadians, so they always have carefully looked, that they only buy Canadian made cars - and the sticker "Made in Canada" must be on the back. They lived just 200 meters away from the US-border, so we could go to the USA by foot. Mainly for shopping, especially milk and cheese. Once I've shocked my friends, because I'd bought something "100% USA" there: a rural postbox. The mother really had said "Oh, I wouldn't mount such USA-stuff at my house. It will be destroyed soon. The Canadians don't like US-stuff." But the postbox has survived until today. Since 22 years it's hanging at my parent's fence. -- Last edit: 2010-07-14 13:57:23 |
