I'd say it's a Hamm 3000 series, but don't nail me on it. |

As Hamm is a German manufacturer and this is located in the US, could it also be Ingersoll-Rand? |

Hamm AG is a worldwide manufacturer and marketer of road rollers based in Tirschenreuth, Bavaria, Germany. It is a subsidiary of Wirtgen Group GmbH, which also owns Vögele asphalt machines. The Wirtgen group has long since a US dependency which happily turns out Hamm road rollers there. I was surprised to see so many Hamm rollers in the US that I did. And Vögele asphalt machines too. Here is the website of Hamm America: http://www.hammcompactors.com/flash.html I'm not denying that this could be an IR roller, but Hamm is very plausible and this thing certainly looks like one. -- Last edit: 2006-05-16 12:22:29 |

The Hamm 3000 Series is a single drum vibrating roller introduced in 2000. Tandem-drum rollers were a speciality of Hamm, but even more special is the fact that they introduced all wheel steering back in 1932 and had that protected by patents until 1970. That made their rollers look different and contributed to their world wide sales. http://www.hamm.eu/deutsch/pages/hamm/geschichte.html With this rear mounted steering this roller reminds me of a Buffalo Springfield. So far I cannot prove it. |

For what it's worth, I also think it might be a Buffalo Springfield. |
