1991-1992 actually. 1993 had different taillights. |

If you look close, this car appears to have amber turn signals in the taillights. Euro spec car. |

I agree. If I remember correctly, these were sold in the EU. |

I do not remember that it was available in Europe (I only saw one in my life...), isn't that rather a generic "export" version? -- Last edit: 2012-02-22 18:24:32 |

I cannot remember either, that it was sold officially here. I may have seen two or three here, but IIRC they had Dutch plates. But this means nothing, they can be private imports or wer sold by US servicemen. So "made for EU" is incorrect IMO, when the specific parts were changed by the owner to pass the technical inspection (TÜV in Germany, APK in Holland) to get the registration ![]() But we already had discussed that point. Without a comprehensive solution - how should that be possible? In fact only to find out, when you check the specific car and its papers in reality. |

I would have to ask a friend of mine in Germany who owns a bunch of these cars, but these were definitely built for export to Europe. Many were sent to the middle east with few modifications to them apart from domestic versions, but a very small amount were sold in Europe. They had different headlamp capsules, some had different taillamps, etc. I saw one with an entirely different rear bumper cover with reflectors molded in. Some were offered with a headlamp washer system not available in the US. The European export lamp option code was T84. |

This is not precise enough. Although due the EU there are less and less national regulations, it's still not coherent. The car-brands still have different local model-ranges. So it's more than likely, that in some countries US Cars are officially sold and appear in the dealer's price lists and showrooms, but in other countries you only can order them on special request. And somewhere else not at all. I mean EU-countries and not the NON-EU-members Switzerland and Norway (where US-cars always had a strong postition on the market). I still have the impression, that for example in the Netherlands much more US-cars were officially sold than in Germany. So these Caprices from the 90ies and newer, as on this pic, I have seen here, have nearly all Dutch plates. |

I was told they were very popular in the Netherlands as taxis, why, I have no clue. This is interesting: Link to "badass-of-ne.forumotion.com" 147 cars were built in 1992 for European special export, apparently? |
