Polonez steering wheel, interesting if original. Maybe they said what engine it has? If of Fiat, it would be a F-233.

The steering wheel is original for sure.

Tarpan had three types of steering wheels teamed with two types of steering gears (came straight from Warszawa or from Żuk with higher, less comfortable for me steering wheel position).

The earliest cars had Warszawa's steering wheel and gear (like owned by my family, R.I.P. made in 1976) which gave the driver's position close to passenger car. Later cars got MR75 125p wheel. The facelifted cars (as this one) had always Polonez/1979+ 125p wheel with FSR instead FSO digits.

I didn't open before the first thumb. It had indicators under the grill, it makes it 1983+ 237 S(tandard).
Edit: or old body elements has been replaced, not uncommon it seems.

Agree with 1983+ 237 S.

The body's change was very common in 80s, alike Tatra 603-1s with replaced 603-2 type bodies. :D

First series Tarpan was this type of car which rust on prospects. ;)
Without extra & carefull rust-protection (made by owner just after purchase), the body and frame became into oxides in 5-8 years usually.
Our light grey 1976 Tarpan 233 had a lot of extra air vents after 9 years. ;) My uncle borrowed it one day and incidentaly crashed into concrete pile (Don't try to find things which rolled on car's floor when driving without watching to road!) Hopefully he didn't hurt and we got enough cash from incurance policy to buy a new (1985) body and frame. This one had much better rust-protection and lasted 15+ years.

Tarpan had some simply & clever features - e.g. the full sweeping wall beetween cargo & passenger space.

You could enlarge cargo bay in just 15-20 seconds by unfolding rear seat, releasing two locks and pulling the wall close to front. The round control lights had rotating globes for the brigthness setting at night, working as rheostat (much more complicated & prone to failure).

It's was amazing picnic car - sometimes in summer we picked up friends, unfolded the fabric hood over cargo bay, putted on the sofa there and cruised slowly through quit forest ways, stopped e.g. for swimming in lakes. The sofa gave the best comfort - the quietness almost, unlimited fresh air, singing birds and mild wind in hair, however the lowest safety. Nobody hurt. :sun:

Już w prospekcie wyglądał jak po klepaniu... to rzadkie. :D
Ale jak widać nawet ten, podobno najgorszy, polski samochód można dobrze wspominać. Pomysł nie był zły...

Looks like the same car /vehicle.php?id=372632 - with both type of fenders, as I mentioned on linked page - so better 1984 by default.
