In 1996, just before being redesigned to match the European Mark VI, Brazilian production stopped and Argentina became the sole Escort manufacturer in South America..... The facelifted Mark V was never built in South America.

Edit: Brazilian wiki: A MK5 iniciou sua produção em 1992 como modelo 1993, sendo o ano de 1995 o último ano de fabricação do Escort no Brasil.
