GTA was the model name, no Alliance anywhere on it. In Canada, they were branded as Renault, in the US I believe they were AMC. Commercials like the George C. Scott version touted it as Alliance GTA, trying to use it as a halo car for the Alliance as it was intended. People do refer to it as Alliance GTA mostly to avoid ambiguity with the European Renault GTA, a two door, rear engine car sharing nothing with this car. |
