Funny how the saloon version of the Astra was very well received in the south American markets (apparently it sold well in Russia as well) and it flopped in the UK. I'm told that in Brazil, just about every hatchback has a saloon version. The Polo has one, Corsa and Fiesta both have two saloon versions based on different generations of each car and the Grande Punto has a saloon version called "Linea". Not as well, at least here (in my country). It is rather for the "downsizing" and the crisis, in addition to the shit strategies of the automakers, who take these crap cars. In the last 10 years this market was more receptive to the hatchback, which in the late 70's and 80's was not. |
