C123, built from 1976 on. |

Still, I don't know whether these rims were available from the beginning on. |

If they was not they still is very easy and common to replace later. |

Again looking with UK eyes, the only C123 sold here was the 280CE and I'm fairly sure all the ones I've seen came with these alloys. |

I thougt that also the C123 230CE was sold in UK ![]() http://www.lancashirecarstorage.co.uk/classic-mercedes/230ce.php -- Last edit: 2011-02-02 20:49:55 |

Oops - yes. Oct 77 230C introduced; replaced by Oct 80 230CE, Sept 85 discontinued and replaced by [C124]. |

Beware before you'll mess with W123 family codes: /vehicle.php?id=82146 |

Sure, they were an extra option from 1968 for the W108/109 and the W114/115 (and standard for the 6.3) until the 1986-facelift of the W126. |

So all C123 should be listed as W123 ??? Why should wrong body codes be used ?? http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_Baureihe_123 |

My Glass's Car Check Guide 1973-81 (which was printed in 1981) uses W123 for saloons and estates with C123 for the coupe. |

There were few discussions about W123 family codes here. And their clou is - the S and C letters in MB codes have been came in late 80s or early 90s. Looks like somebody have been widened it for older cars inproperly. People reply errors on web many times. That's why Wikipedia doesn't be miracle-oracle. ![]() |

@130rapid thanks for the answer. I dont think that eigther IMCDB or Wikipedia are miracle-oracle, but their mostly rigth and good sources for info, but not allways Im aware of that and have no trouble living with it. Sometimes it is easier to simplify to get a clear answer thats ok. |

I can't read the linked article, but can trace the W123/C123 titles back to 1979 (print date) Glass's publications, so in use from start of production. Use of S123 seems a much later designation. |

I had similar "revolutionary" ideas here about W123 codes but I have been learned the IMCDb uses S & C letters as from W124. However maybe it's worth to treat again. |

C107/R107 being the only exception, as that one seems to be used rather than W107. |

-- Last edit: 2012-03-07 02:28:13 |
