The normal problem of classifying Princess..... I call them Austin-Morris because that is how I've seen them on the DVLA site. -- Last edit: 2006-06-25 12:44:25 |

I really have a problem with that decision taken here about Leyland cars! ... when the differents makes from former BMC merged to Leyland to form the British Leyland Motor Corp, they never dropped the specific names makes, even when nationalization comes on BLMC: All the range had always kept the generic name, associated with L logo... Austin, Morris, Triumph, Rover, Jaguar ... the example of Princess is a particular one, as Princess had been rised up as a make as Austin, Rover,... in my opinion, Leyland cars should be seen as General Motors cars... all Opel, Vauxhall+ american GM have always kept there own names make... it's the same for BLMC I had a brother who bought 3 times Austin Mini in that period and I did mayself bought an Austin Mini 1100 Special in 1981, it was sold as Austin Mini - with Leyland associated name on documents, but still named as Austin Mini... In an other point of view, then should we call such cars ...Leyland Mini , Leyland Allegro, Leyland XJS, Leyland 2600 or 3500 V8, Leyland Range Rover, Leyland TR7 .... That is silly, sorry to say that! ... you know, Wikipedia is not always a very reliable source ! |

As I've mentioned previously I found some preserved 'Princess' cars on the internet - all of them are listed as 'Austin Morris' on the DVLA website so that must be the manufacturer on the cars documents....... Austin Morris FMF 556V (1980) First Registration 1980 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2227CC Austin Morris GLY 348T (1979) First Registration 1979 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1700CC Austin Morris YBJ 243X (1981) First Registration 1981 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2000CC Austin Morris PFK 871W (1980) First Registration 1980 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2000CC |

1975 Austin 1800HL ADO 71 (or Morris version) without the chrome trim on the doors for the later 'Princess'. |

Am I right, that this red construction, just behind the ADO16, is one of these totally screwed up, for metric-thinking (so all non-British people) not usuable, tire-pressure-tester? |
