Ex General Lee perhaps??? Right colour and right wheels. |

Hey, that looks like the General Lee, only without the number 01, the Confederate flag, & the push bar on the front bumper. |

This IS a General Lee car. It gets blown up after someone hides a bomb in the engine. But when they show it burning, the car used isn't General Lee because the burning car has hubcaps. |

They used so many cars for the series, there were hundred of General Lee |

Only 308 were used and only less than 20 still exist. |

Hundreds, as I said I guess that most of those that do not exist anymore were destroyed in the stunts made for the series. -- Last edit: 2006-10-22 13:06:56 |

There were two used in this, A reao 1969 and a 1968 made to look like a 1969. The fake 1969 is missing side markers. The real 1969 had the pyro set off in it and was reused afterward. You can see the melted grille in some of the closeups. |

the car that was on fire looked just like Rosco's patrol car. I love it I love it! |

At cajunknight0153: It probably was a Monaco, to me the roasted wreck barely resembled a Charger. Something tells me that the whole Mustang and Charger ide for this race was a light Bullitt tribute. |

maybe a bullitt tribute but the charger is most definately there to make fun of the dukes of hazzard. there are several dukes references in this. 1. the 2 guys run their car on moonshine. the dukes made moonshine and there was even an ep called "high octane" where jesse ran his car on it 2. the jackets that the 2 guys are wearing have confederate flag patches on them. this can't be a coincidence. 3. the fact KITT jumps over the charger is in reference to an article when KR first came out showing KITT jumping over a car resembling the general lee (was probably a shot from this ep actually) saying "there is a new super car in town" or something like that. incidently i think the dukes parodied knight rider near the end of their run when 2 guys stole general lee and rigged a remote control device so the car appeared like it was driving itself. |

I'd muc preffer KITT than The General Lee |

The two guys in this episode wer called the "Princes". |

He was saying less than 20 "Screen Used" General Lees from the original series exist.... Not less than 20 Chargers. |
◊ 2010-11-28 02:47 |
;-) Gotcha. BTW I guess more than 20 "Screen Used" Chargers may still be around today. They used hundereds on the show, but even though they damaged many at least some would haved been restored, or at least used for parts. Same with some of the cars that were used in Christine. |

This is an old "Dukes" Charger used for this "KR" episode, and I think more than 20 actual "Dukes" episode cars do still exist. Some have even been rescued from the junk yards and restored since the "Dukes" series ended. I LOVE both KITT and the General Lee, and "The Dukes of Hazzard" and "Knight Rider" were the only two shows in my life that I actually cried over when I learned they had been cancelled...of course I was 9 when one was cancelled and 10 when the other ended. -- Last edit: 2012-12-30 07:49:22 |

No not an old dukes charger. Dukes was still being made when this ep aired. This was universals way of making fun of their competition in this time slot with cbs the dukes of hazzard and warner bros. Kr had an ad campagn where kitt sat next to an obvious general lee clone with a 00 instead of an 01 http://stblogs.hotrod.com/files/2011/08/NBC-Flyer-623x367.jpg |

An inaccuracy: this Charger had normal doors while the General had them sealed; you had to climb through the side window. |

I just popped my DVD in and re watched the explosion and ChooCV was right the after shot of the burning car was of a Plodge Corofuromonaco. however the part where the car actually explodes was unfortunately, a real 69 dodge charger. |

that's right! it is not General Lee's as almost perfect match. |
