I would have to agree with tore-40. |

Actually, due to the black bumpers it's a 1303 A (Sparkäfer with 1200 engine) introduced MY1974! Still Super Beetle in US. |

Sorry, it's no 1303 ![]() |

My mistake, the front looked like a black bumper. Still 1974 by these taillights on non-1303. |

![]() ![]() From what I understand that the 1973/74 Volkswagen Super Beetle and 'Beetle' were sold along in our market ![]() Let me research this from my library ![]() -- Last edit: 2013-01-27 22:59:46 |

@rjluna: AFAIK 1303 Super Beetle got "elephants" MY 1973. The following year they were fitted to all remaining models. There may have been a difference in launch between US and European versions, as there were different lamps 1958-60 and 1967-68 as well. (Not to mention headlamps or side markers, that's a different story.) |

After looking into the 'Imported Car Spotter's Guide' by Tad Burness, I found this example has the Super Beetle front fender ![]() But, indeed it is the 1974 model year version due to extended out bumpers. Comments are welcome here. |

Although 1974 bumpers had a black edge, the location of these ones seem to match (even if the referred black edge is missing..). It's a Beetle (reinforced by the fact that the side window seal doesn't have chrome trim) and the 1973 Beetle already had these rear lights. |

The rear bumper has 1974+ position. And where is the second exhaust pipe? 1975 with catalytic converter? ![]() -- Last edit: 2018-12-31 23:34:34 |
