Following some further digging, the registration series MM 1 to 9999 was reserved by Middlesex County Council exclusively for the use of Stewart and Ardern Ltd, the largest Morris dealer in the London area at that time. |

Stewart and Arden lasted well into the 1980s - they were involved in lots of Mini tuning and racing (they took over the production of the 1960s chopped Minisprints at one stage - http://mk1-performance-conversions.co.uk/variants.htm - incidentally a great page of weird Minis) and I think raced Group 1 Dolomite Sprints in the early 80s. |
