 This is a 3 litre Mercedes Benz V12 cylinder with dual supercharger built in 1939 according to the Grand Prix norms ( maximum 3 litre for blown engines).It eventually found its way to the United States and was raced at Indianapolis in 1947 under number 46.The engine developed 487 hp at7600 rounds per minute allowing for speeds nearing 400 km/h

Thanks for your Help & information.! ;) ...from what you say ..do you think that the makers of this film have added race-cars from the 1947 Indianopolis.? (..rather than the 1948 race.?)

I'm convinced they used 'last year's' cars for filming. Which race team would risk their current race car in filming? It has been done for many a race movie.
