Probably the same car, even if first scene is supposed to be in the US and the second in Italy. The character owning the Rolls did not bring it to Italy.![]() |

I am not convinced the second picture is the same as the main one shown. There appears to be a pronounced 'lip' around the front and rear wheel arches that does not look to be visible on the first Rolls-Royce. Also the downward sweep of the wing form into the front door looks to be lower on the first car. Not the same I think....but cannot help with identification of either. |

I agree with "Sunbar". These two cars are not one and the same. Oddly enough, the one that is supposed to be pictured in the USA features on th front fnders the small, round, amber marking light imposed by the Italian transport authorities (like the US "DMV"). On the other hand, the car supposed to be used in Italy does NOT have that marker light. I'm no Rolls expert but I believe both cars are "Silver Cloud" models of the mid- to late-seventies (50% sure). |

..don't you mean '50s.? -- Last edit: 2006-07-17 13:53:10 |

For me neither vehicle has the standard Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud body. Link to "www.frankdale.com" If they are Silver Clouds, the extended front wing line on both vehicles and the boot/trunk area on the second image make both of them products of other coach-builders in my opinion. -- Last edit: 2006-07-17 14:58:07 |

No, I did mean seventies ...which just goes to show how little I know about RR styling! |

Since it´s two different cars, I uploaded the other one too. |

Both cars are definitely "Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith". The one on the large picture is a Park-Ward built limousine, the one parked on the street is a James Young bodied one. |

The small photo shows a car which is still being used in the hire trade in Italy. It is a 1956 James Young saloon, chassis #LELW59. Like most late JY Silver Wraiths, it has oblong horn grilles. The large photo shows round horn grilles, so it is a different car. I'll try to research it too. Got it ! it's chassis #ELW9, a PW limousine to design 703. This was not too difficult because it's the only one with a repeater on the wing. It is now in Holland, in the H. Bezemer fleet of hire cars. -- Last edit: 2007-04-19 16:48:33 |
