Bond is the manufacturer. In the past they were competitors to Reliant Motors but then Reliant took control of Bond Cars Limited in 1969 and although Reliant designed the Bug it was sold under the Bond name. This is a very early model, and will probably have been part of the initial batch of Bugs actually built by Bond in Preston - the factory closed at the end of July 1970. Bond had LOTS of production problems with components supplied by Reliant. |
