Neither, but Citroen did enter a version of the Iltis into a French army competition, which was won by the G-Wagen-based Peugeot P4. Link to "en.wikipedia.org" -- Last edit: 2011-08-18 20:53:31 |

Well, very good catch, but you mixed sth. up. The Peugeot P4 was based on the Austrian built Puch/Mercedes G. http://www.careos.com/pics/BiblioPHO/net/p4_1986.jpg The "french" VW Iltis is a Citroen C44 http://www.histomobile.com/dvd_histomobile/usa/10/1981_Citroen_C44.htm But finally you solved that mystery ![]() |

He answered Ingo's question regarding what vehicles were in use by the French army, he didn't mean to imply the Iltis pictured here is actually a Peugeot P4. ![]() |

a lot of confusion, but with his posting he still solved that mystery, what kind of car that is ![]() |

No, because the Citroen C44 was just a concept which never entered mass production. |

Maybe one of the Belgian Army cars? They have 2.500 from Bombardier - http://www.reocities.com/spoelstra.geo/vw183/index.htm |

-- Last edit: 2014-03-05 02:05:14 |

Production started in mid-1978, not 1977. And those early Iltises had an angular engine hood. Link to "commons.wikimedia.org").jpg This one has a later hood, with rounded edges. |
