It IS higher, than GAZ M-1 (what's M2?), and it has tires for 4x4. |

I think you are mixing models up. This is a GAZ 11-73, and probably the same one: http://amnesia.pavelbers.com/Motor28.jpg |

No such thing, as M-61 or M-2. GAZ 61 (not M-61) was only a prototype - http://denisovets.narod.ru/gaz/gazpages/gaz61exp.html This car is too high for GAZ 11-73 - http://denisovets.narod.ru/gaz/gazprototips/GAZ1173.jpg ; http://denisovets.narod.ru/gaz/gazprototips/GAZ1173_3.jpg Also it has too big tires for 11-73. Most probably it's 4x4 GAZ 61-73 - http://denisovets.narod.ru/gaz/gazpages/gaz6173.html -- Last edit: 2011-09-09 14:51:10 |

GAZ 61 (with body GAZ M-1) was later produced as GAZ 61-73. |

All prototypes are real cars. They exist in one, two, or even 15 copies, but that does'nt mean, that they're normal cars, produced in factories. They're still prototypes. 61-73 is not "improved" version of 61, but first version produced in factory. Tires for 4x4 could have almost every car with big wheels, but big tires are not everything. Your Volga has such tires, but it has'nt higher suspension, like car above, and like - for example - GAZ M-72 - http://denisovets.narod.ru/gaz/gazpages/gazm72.html On russian Wikipedia it's nothing about "GAZ M2". Don't exist such thing. - http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%93%D0%90%D0%97-61 According to site from my link (in loose translation by Google): "By finishing the first phase of the trial and before the fall and winter testing body "Phaeton" was replaced by a closed body "sedan" from the M1. As a result of the second part of testing it was concluded that cross-GAZ-61 ensures trouble-free movement of any natural terrain ability, half-track all-terrain vehicle GAZ-60 (except for snow depth of more than 0.45 m)." And: "Based on test GAZ-61 People's Commissariat of Medium Machine Building decided to staging it in production by the end of 1940 and the termination of preparation for manufacture chassis GAZ-21." And body M-1 with different grill is STILL the same M-1. |

The suspension looks lifted up using modern elements (just look on front reaction rod or anti-roll bar near front wheel). |

Use the Google Translator, Luke... Khem, I mean Andre. English sources for russian cars are... at least incomplete. |

11-73 61-73 has bonnet louvres and appears to have split windscreen. http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/GAZ%201941.html |

Not 1936. Model 11-73 began releasing only in 1940. |
