HLP 161 plate was issued late 1946, though state of car suggests more than 5 years old at film date. |

I do not think that this car is an MG. It has bolt-on wheels and not knock-off types. If anyone can find evidence of a 1930s MG with bolt-on wheels then please post. The one possibility is that it could have had a Morris axle fitted at some time, as it looks well-used. |

Whatever breed this car is, in my copy of the complete movie the fuzzy footage of the car coming along the road towards the camera suggests that its radiator grille has a narrow vertical division down the middle, and near the top of the grille a diagonal (upwards to the right as we face the car) manufacturer’s symbol of some sort.![]() -- Last edit: 2019-08-18 07:36:57 |

Comparing both front views from the enlarged thumbnails, what could be visible is a central horn mounted on an almost straight bar between the headlamp mounts, plus maybe a length of diagonal script/letters or a badge in the top right?![]() |

Sunbar, you may well be right with the horn idea: “[. . .] what could be visible is a central horn mounted on an almost straight bar between the headlamp mounts [. . .].” -- Last edit: 2019-08-21 06:11:50 |
