I don't think this is a 1986, but rather a 1988. Sweden has never like Great Britain had number plates that on purpose indicates a certain year the car was firs registered, but from the mid 80's up to roughly 1990 pure chance meant that almost equal numbers were registered as combinations of numbers within one beginnig letter. That is for most cars registered within the year as some got their numbers from scrapped ones as well. I have a 1988 car that begins with NF that I know for certain it was made in March 1988 which means the above one must have been registered later, perhaps July. Likewise plates beginning with a M indicates 1987, L for 1986, K for 1985 but then it's more uncertain. Also O indicates 1989, and possible P for 1990, but later on is much more uncertain as Sweden after that got into a recession and not many cars were sold at all. That is a 1988 Volvo 240 [245]. |
