Rootes alert on left - Singer Gazelle S6 and Humber Hawk. Mini has late 62 plate and Super deluxe side chrome, agree Austin bonnet badge. Grille looks Morris at first glance but I think it has foil over it and is Austin underneath. [ADO15]. -- Last edit: 2011-11-01 20:33:14 |

What is the blue car on the right? |

A Ford Zephyr or Zodiac? The ratio of the pic is too flat, so it looks like a coupé. |

Not a Super Deluxe but the short lived Austin Super Seven with the different grille (with added vertical bars). This car also looks to have the contrasting coloured roof which I thought was standard on the Super Seven but does not appear on all cars I can find via Google. http://www.flickr.com/photos/trollpowersaab/3778474980/ http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/File:Im196202IH-Austin.jpg |

Useful info - I have noticed that grille occasionally but never pinned down what it was. Glass's says Seven Super launched Sept 61, but Seven name dropped in Jan 62 and replaced by Mini, so this is Mini Super from 62 plate date. |

Do them extra little front bumper bars under indicators signify any particular version ? -- Last edit: 2011-11-02 13:49:16 |

@JCB - the handlebars were introduced on this Super version (and equivalent Morris Super at same time - ), and continued when both were replaced by Super Deluxe in Oct 62, and then spread to other versions - Cooper etc. Morris Super Mini photo at http://www.flickr.com/photos/cessna152towser/2542168728/ - again a more heavily emphasised grille. Info on both Supers at http://www.minicooper.org/index.php/registers/mini-super - " (up-dated link).... now believed to be the rarest of Mk1 Minis." So nice work Sunbar. -- Last edit: 2015-07-27 11:49:08 (Sunbar) |
