It is supposed to be a Series III Station Wagon, note the radiator grille and the flat hinges. Some of the other bits are a bit Escheresque... |

Now this at least resembles a real Land Rover, not some stupid cartoon car. |

But also note it has a raser edge bonnet. Series-3 LWB's always had the delux (round edge) bonnet. |

No. I think its more likley the artist coulnd't draw the deluxe. There are plenty of other simplifications (the wings are too square, the vent flaps are either missing or merged into one and it has a one piece windscreen) to make it easier to draw and fit the style of the show where everything is drawn with minimal detail. It also appears to have either wind up windows (like a Defender) or no windows at all. I suspect the artist would have had real trouble trying to draw Homer hanging out of a little slot at the back of the window frame! Also, being made in the USA I suspect nobody involved with the show as far as this Land Rover is concerned would even know Santana built Land Rovers and Land Rover based vehicles. I have to say, even with all the simplifications, this is one of the best cartoon Land Rovers I've ever come across. |
