Is "Phase III" the same as a "Series III", or is it something else? I ask that because we have few Standard Vanguard with "Phase" and others with "Series" (and two 1952 model, one is "Phase I" and the other "Series I") |

The Standard Vanguard came as - Vanguard Phase I (1948-53) - Vanguard Phase II (1953-55) - Vanguard Phase III (1955-58) - Vanguard Sportsman (1956-58) - Ensign (1957-61 + 1962-63) - Vignale Vanguard (1958-62) - Vignale Vanguard Six (1960-63) While the Phase II was a face-lifted Phase I, the Phase III was a completely new vehicle. All those following were in fact Phase III with various trim and engine levels. |

BTW, the car where the version naming has gone haywire is the Hillman Minx: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillman_Minx ![]() |

So "phase" is a kind of "mark", and I could rename the "series" to "phase"? |

Yes, in this case. |
