Late one if we trust it has factory head restraints. |

I don't know the year for the head restraints but the bootlid handle makes it atleast 1964-1970. If this was filmed in France I'd guess it could be a 121, 122 S or 123 GT. If this was filmed in Canada I'd think that it would be a Canadienne, and also assembled there. The rim is from a 740 or 760, this indicates that the rear axle probably have been swaped for a Volvo 240 axle. If the car also has 740 rims on the front it probably has a Volvo 140 front beam. -- Last edit: 2012-02-26 18:49:45 |

I'd say this is a 1969+ model as it hasn't got the chrome, beneath the roof but above the doors and side windows. However it has still the over-riders which, should, if not fitted as optional extra, tell us it is made before 1970. Don't put too much attention to the head rests as they were available as optional extra from rather early. As far as I know most export models had the two carurettor engine, which should exclude the 121 model. It also hasn't got the rear mirrors fitted on the 123 GT models. If my eyes are not betraying me I think it is painted in light blue (colour code 95) available until 1968, but probably also used on a few 1969 models. Otherwise it is painted in steel blue metallic (colour code 102) that was indeed avaliable in 1969. That should leave us with the only model left: A 1969 Volvo 122 S. I used to have a 1969 Volvo 142 where the previous owner had tightened the wheel nuts that hard the holes in the rims had began to get oval. I therefore had to get new wheels and found some that looked the same, but unfortunately as it had different bolt pattern. I then found out that Amazon and the 140-series had different ones with the Amazon using Ford pattern. I don't know from where 140 got its pattern. I have seen 240's fitted with 140 wheels (15" instead of 14") and 740's fitted with 240 wheels which means I think the bolt pattern is the same from 140's and onwards. The alloys were originally mostly fitted to 1987 Volvo 760 Link to "www.parts-specs.com" but afterwards were available as spare parts. -- Last edit: 2012-02-27 10:25:03 |

140, 240, 740 and 940 all have the same bolt pattern; 108/5. Amazon and PV have the 'small Ford pattern'; 4.5"/5. |
