Une autre voiture appartenant à Daisy Duke. Très belle, mais parfois poussièreuse dans la série ![]() |

This is actually a cheaper Satellite, not a Road Runner. |

This is the Satellite " Sebring" version with the fog lights at each side of the number plate , 1971 or 1972. |

Actually. It is a 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring. |

No, it's a 1971 model Plymouth Satellite Sebring. Side marker lights are different between '71 and '72 : http://www.lhmopars.com/MOPAR_Ads/1971_Plymouth_Satellite_Sebring_ad.html |

Here's the back-story of that car: When the series was filming in Georgia, Daisy drove a 1974 Road Runner. When the series took off, and moved to California after the first few episodes, the 5 1973/1974 Road Runners they had were falling apart. The transportation guys beat the bushes hard for more 73/74's, but found that they were next to impossible to find, so they switched her car to the 71 Satellite, not only because they were much easier to find, but also because the Satellites were a lot cheaper to buy than the actual Road Runners. It is interesting to note that, (I'm guessing) for continuity, they painted all the 71 Satellites with the 73/74 Road Runner strobe stripes, and one-of-a-kind hood stripes. When Jeep approached the transportation guys with a bid to supply vehicles for the Dukes, they wrote the car out of the script by having it lose brakes and drive off a cliff. Daisy drove a Jeep from then on, except for one episode, the one entitled "Jude Emery". In that episode she drove a maroon 71 Satellite she borrowed from Cooter. -- Last edit: 2012-12-03 07:14:46 |

Also, to "pilou", those are not fog lights on either side of the front license plate area, they are parking lamps/turn signals. And when front license plate was not required, that area is actually open, to allow airflow to the radiator. |

It is a 1971 Plymouth Satellite. I would deffinitely know because I personally own one! As for which version/package it is it is hard to tell if you don't have a good look at the interior. AS for it being the cheaper car, that is far from true. The roadrunner was a budget car while the Satellite, I think, was the more expensive of the models. Does anybody know what rims that they put on it though? I also am curious, does anybody know which motor of the three choices (slant six, 318, 383) they used the most? -- Last edit: 2007-11-01 22:44:07 |

71 Satellite - you are correct. I own a '72 Satellite Sebring Plus and the sticker was higher than a Road Runner. Interestingly, my car came with a single point distributor, even though electroninc was standard. (I've owned the car since 1984 and have the original build/broadcast sheet). |

in addition to what moparguy1973 said, there was an episode from season 3 entitled "uncle boss" which had Hughie Hogg in it which was a leftover ep from season 2 but never aired and it featured the 71 satellite (and enos) both of which had left the show during the second season. Also i don't remember which episodes this happened in but either the roadrunner appeared in an episode after the one where the dukes drove it off a cliff, or the jeep appeared before that episode. either way one of them was played out of order |

blk95ta the episode your thinking of would be called "The Runaway". A very sad show in my opinion. The jeep was intorduced in this episode (that is why they destroyed the Plymouth). They apparently had just gotten a sponsorship from Jeep so they decided to give the jeep to Daisy. There is also a 1971 Plymouth b-body in the episode called "Jude Emery." |

I agree it needs to be changed. |

I agree that the Satellite was not the cheaper of the two models--the other being the Roadrunner. I've read that the Satellite was the more "fancier" or expensive model. However, I don't know if the Roadrunner was considered a "budget" or base model though?? I've read and always thought it was more of a muscle-car. I also have read that more Satellites were made than Roadrunners and that's why it was easier for the mechanics on the show to find parts. As for which year this Satellite is (1971 or 1972)...I have no idea?? But, I totally agree with 71satellite..."The Runaway" is truly a sad episode! ![]() |

The cars in the above pictures are all 1971's, as they all have the 1971 specific side marker lights and taillights. And I stand firm that the Satellites were cheaper than Road Runners. Satellites were the base models in 1971, after the discontinuation of the Belvedere line. The Satellite Sebring and Satellite Sebring Plus were the upscale models that were more expensive than the Road Runner. Price-wise, Plymouth's line up went Satellite, Road Runner, Sebring, Sebring Plus, GTX. But by the early 1980's I'm sure none of them were all that expensive, seeing that they were nothing but 10 year old used cars at the time... |

Cheaper than the Road Runner or not, these Satellites were still pretty cool! Plus, I think Daisy's Satellite was a Sebring...so it may have been a more upscale model than the Road Runner. As they did with the General Lee...Auto World will soon be coming out with a 1:18 diecast model of this 71 Plymouth Satellite, of Daisy's, in the "Roadrunner" yellow w/black stripes paint scheme! Both Lemon Twist Yellow and Curious Yellow were available for Plymouths at that time--so not sure exactly which color Daisy's was on the show but Auto World is going with Lemon Twist on the model. Pics look superb! ![]() ![]() Here is a couple pics of the upcoming model: ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2014-01-05 06:11:13 |

Its a '71 alright, the taillights are a dead give away. this car is a Satellite Sebring Plus: you tell its a Plus due to the Rallye gauge cluster (the only Satellite model to had them-Road Runner/GTX aside) the cluster is visible a few times. I hated when they destroyed it, dare I say it I liked it better then the General Lee |

moparguy: thanks for the backstory on Daisy's car…… I had pretty much heard the "meat" of the story years ago, but I am glad to know specifics. Interestingly, I had pretty much commented on one of these blogs that the reason they "did away with" daisy's car was b/c of budget due to locating road runners…. again, thanks for the specifics! it was a great piece of history to learn about |

somewhere I read that there were 5 or 6 of these made (and all were destroyed) and most had 318s |

I now have a 1:18 scale diecast model of this car, with the Daisy Duke action figure sitting on the hood. The Duke’s action figures were probably some of the worst ever created, LOL, but they were what they were. ![]() |

A Satellite coupe or Satellite Sebring would've had a bar style speedometer. The Satellite Sebring Plus had the Rallye gauge cluster (like the Roadrunner and GTX had) which you can kind of see in these pictures ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2020-11-04 23:55:27 |
