At least one of the 5 vehicles built for the series by George Barris was also used in the movie, and was based on a 1922 Oldsmobile. It was sold at Barrett-Jackson's 2008 Scottsdale auction for $125,000. Link: Link to "www.barrett-jackson.com" |

I'm glad this was never named with a "-mobile" suffix like "Hillbilly-mobile" or something. |

I thought I read somewhere that the original was based on a 1910-1912 Olds Limited Touring Car. I believe the one sold at auction was a late reproduction of the car. |

Given George Barris' history of misrepresenting himself and the vehicles he may or may not have built, this wouldn't surprise me. |

Definitely worth at least four stars but I would argue it's a five star car since it's so heavily iconic. |

I read somewere that it was a genuine rare 1921 Oldsmobile truck. |

It's a '21 Oldsmobile truck. It currently resides at the camus of College of the Ozarks in the Ralph Foster museum. I do not believe George Barris had anything to do with this truck. |
