Although the Taurus was sold in Australia for some time, I'm fairly sure this isn't one (I'm thinking a early/mid-90's Holden).

It could be a VS which was intoduced in 1995, i cant find any images good enough to show external differce
an example of a VS (an SS version)

Maybe someone who knows the cars first hand might be able to detirmine wether its a VR or a VS

Definetelly is not a Ford Taurus ( what a hell are doing a Ford Taurus in Australia if they had better Fords and Holdens)
Is a 1994-95 Holden Commodore Calais ( the red wine)

The '96-'99 Ford Taurus was exported to Austrailia and Japan. They were converted to RHD in Atlanta before they were shipped. They also had a handbrake rather than a foot pedal parking brake. '86-'95 models were never intended to be sold in foreign markets, but some were bought overseas and converted to meet local specs (such as amber signals, but kept LHD and front bench seat and all the American goodies). Some people claim that the Taurus was a much better car than the domestic Fords in their country which is kind of funny because Americans envy the Austrailians for their Fords.

But this isn't a Taurus though.

Not a Holden Commodore. This is an Australia only Toyota Lexcen, a rebadged Commodore. The black body mould wrapping around under the tail lights is the give away. Toyota didn't have a large six cylinder car in the Australian market place, and Holden needed a mid sized car and a small car, so Toyota got the Commodore rebadged as a Lexcen, and Holden got the Corolla rebadged as a Nova, and the Camry rebadged as an Apollo
