Ce n'est pas une Seville mais une Cimarron de 1985 ou 86. |

The Cimarron was never used as a police car anywhere that I am aware of and never sold well. It was just a rebadged & retrimmed Cavalier and even had the same 2L engine.. One nickname in US was the "Cimarrip" (as in rip-off..) ![]() |

Actually the whole movie seems to have been made in France (this scene at the beginning is the only one set in the US, all the rest is set in France). I guess that it is the only car that they found for the role there. cf also the truck that is odd for a US scene: /vehicle_51243-Mercedes-Benz-608-T2.html -- Last edit: 2006-10-06 00:30:10 |

No J-body has ever been used as a police car and you're right it was a flop. On the other hand, it was the only J-body sedan you could get in the 80's with a V6 (after 1985) and on the used car market you will get alot for your money. |

Yes, I've never seen a Mercedes 608 of any version in the US and to me this affirms that it was filmed in France as there are a number of US (and Japanese) flatbed hauling type trucks available there that are commonly used for this purpose, i.e. : Hino, Freightliner, Mack, International, GMC, Mitsubishi-Fuso, etc. |

The blue/orange light bar looks like the standard type for French police cars (including the font used for the POLICE sign): /vehicle_59533-Peugeot-306-1993.html -- Last edit: 2006-12-03 00:19:00 |

Bah je doute qu'ils aient repeint l'auto juste pour ça. Elle était probablement blanche et ils y ont ajouté des décorations temporaires (autocollants). Ça doit pas être difficile de trouver une voiture américaine blanche, non? |

Real CA license plate |

It's not real, DEW is a letter combination skipped by the California DMV. Obviously, a police car would have CA Exempt plates. |
