@bux48 can you explain (or anyone else) why this is labeled a Seat when the VIN and plate checks say Fiat? Joint venture or rebadge? Marca: Fiat Modelo: Panda Ano: 1983-04-13 Combustible: PETROL CC del motor: 903 FIAT PANDA (141_) 0.9 900 (45Cv) Fecha primera matricula : 12/4/1983 VIN (número de bastidor) : ZFA141A0009144352 Código de motor : 100 GL3.000 | 146 A.000 |

according to wiki its almost one of the last ones wiki says badge-engineering but i won't get the wheels further than that, probably either bux48 or Gongora knows better ... -- Last edit: 2021-09-09 20:32:00 |

This is a badge engineered Fiat, as almost all the Seat cars produced until the mid 1980s. Only a few models of that age were engineered by Seat (and some of them rebadged by Fiat itself, as like the 133, the 131 estate and the 127 4-door) |

Alex has said it all probably the check has these (or some of them) as Fiat since basically they are |

Thank you! One more question. VIN says [141A]? |

Indeed usually sources identify 1980-85 Panda as [141] and 1986-2003 as [141A], but we have other two examples of first generation Panda with [141A] in VIN: /vehicle.php?id=819598 and /vehicle.php?id=1381471 Possibly VINs say [141A] for all, but need more research. Edit: and indeed VINs pull [141A] also for first series, and (I think recently added) italian Wikipedia clearly says that all 1980-2003 Pandas are [141A]. So, another mass change to ask for -- Last edit: 2021-09-09 23:04:04 |

Indeed, same thing for Ritmo and Uno (first series [138] and [146] and second series [138A] and [146A]). In particular with the Panda it would make sense to have a different chassis code, because the 1986 model has a slightly different chassis than the original one. Anyway, I cannot find any definitive explanation for this -- Last edit: 2021-09-09 23:03:10 |

@dhill_cb7: did you find any other Seat Panda/Marbella VIN in your searches? It would be interesting to see how they are usually listed, because this one has got the manufacturer identifier of Fiat and it's reported as a 1993 model by the decoder https://www.vindecoder.pl/ZFA141A0009144352 |

I believe the "A" doesn't necessarily stand for a renovation, at least in VINs, as all Ritmo, 124 and IIRC 128 pull respectively 138A, 124A and 128A as chassis codes. Instead, Unos always seem to pull just 146. Also, we recently noticed that the Regata has 138A in VINs and not 149. I'm thinking chassis codes and type code aren't the same in Fiat nomenclature as indeed their meaning is slightly different. Anyway, even italian Wikipedia now clearly states [141A] for all 1980-2003 Panda (except Van and 4x4) I noticed that the VIN starts with ZFA too..but maybe until the "split" this used to happen with Seats? Edit: /vehicle.php?id=100954 this Marbella has Seat brand identifier, but I think it's rather obvious as it was a different model and Seat was already owned by VW -- Last edit: 2021-09-09 23:15:52 |

Yes, this is what I'm suspecting indeed |
◊ 2021-09-09 23:19 |
Probably until the beginning of the VIN use in 1981, they were treated as Fiat ones (since some models built by Seat were exported as Fiat) and then adopted their own brand identifier after the agreement with VW |

I can go back through and look my older pulls. |
