Is this maybe China? In this case the car is a Dongfeng-Peugeot 207. Edit: It is indeed a Chinese model due to these taillights. 206 SD: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5150/5665025883_b2a3424df4_z.jpg DFM 207: Link to "4.bp.blogspot.com" -- Last edit: 2013-02-12 19:21:33 |

Correct to list it as origin France with these differences? |
-- ◊ 2013-02-12 20:17 |
It was already listed as origin France, right? |

Yes, and I don't think, that this is correct. Anyways, it's senseless to provoke the next discussion about the origin countries, we never had and will never have any common agreement about that topic. |

It depends on the cases. For this particular case, it was a cooperative work between Peugeot & Iran Khodro, so it still has much French in its origin (the 206 basis + the partial work of Peugeot). It would deserve both FR+IR flags, but that feature will be for later. About the taillights, the 206+ sold in Belgium (and probably the rest of Europe) has these too. But I do not know if the 206 SD got these, or if it was only for the 207 (a search in Google images seems to rather confirm Kegare's info). -- Last edit: 2013-02-13 10:33:00 |

I don't know the 206 detail background, but think it very likely that Peugeot France designed the booted saloon and then offered the package to whichever of its assembly plants wanted it - China, Iran etc - so each is building the same car. |

Wikipedia says that it is a join work between Peugeot & Iran Khodro, but I do not know the reliability of that, and how Peugeot France was involved (though that they still had to share info of the original 206...) If Peugeot France was involved it would explain how easily the other Peugeot plant could make the same one. |

Time of the pic: 00:14:23 This scene is supposed to take place in France, just after the arrival of JC at the airport (Charles de Gaulle?). Near Paris, as they are in front of the esplanade of Trocadero in the scene just after : (00:14:14 - 00:14:34) The Mitsubishi cars have what seems to be French plates. But the Chinese 207 was never sold in France... Another Chinese 207 sedan some minutes later, still "in France": (00:30:16 - Chinese invasion ) Fake French locations, or car shipping for product placement? -- Last edit: 2014-06-02 12:07:27 |

It is now assembled in Malaysia. Is there anything else than "Peugeot France"? The French make create occasionally joint ventures with other foreign makes, but there is no "branch" outside France, except for sales. The external plants have no autonomy and there is no Peugeot R&D department outside France. This lack of "worldwide vision" is well known (almost each former PSA CEO reported he had first to fight against the "dinosauristic" economic vision of the Peugeot cousins), and is said to be most certainly the origin of the biggest part of the economic problems of the make. So "Peugeot France" is always involved... French and Chinese origin but Chinese making only. No Iranian part or source acknowledged in it. -- Last edit: 2014-06-02 12:09:20 |
