 Looks like a 1939 Ford V8 with half the rear fender chomped off.

 Altough the bumpers are very strange for a pre-war car, I would say it is a 1939 Mercury rather than a Ford.

 I think 1940 Mercury, tail light seems higher than on Ford, and even though fender is bent, fender has that Merc shape.
