Appears to be some sort of easter egg, as AFAIK the Citroën Traction wasn't sold in the USA, or..? |

A 1953 11BL. But a scale model for sure! |

Indeed a scale model ![]() Btw, it's not a BL but a bigger car (check the shape of the rear doors), so it will be a 11B or (by the thick strips on the door) a 15 Six. Tractions were sold in the USA. During 1937/38 The Challenger Motor Car Company in Los Angeles sold some hundreds of them. But back then the make Citroën was not a registered make in California, so these Tractions were sold as Challenger. Maybe some 1939Six'es were sold by the 'City of Paris Garage' in San Francisco and San Mateo, and by 'Pacific Motor Sales' in Los Angeles. After the war some British and French Tractions were sold in the US because of enthusiastic stories about these cars by US military coming back from Europe. And US tourists visiting Europe could buy a tax free European Traction and after their holiday the car was shipped to the States. -- Last edit: 2013-06-09 14:08:07 |
