@andrepa - excellent piece of Amateur Detection - seems our first one. I think this is L plate so 72-73 - see for instance this Stockport registered YDB 453L (Aug-Sept 72) which later chugged up the road to Glasgow - http://www.flickr.com/photos/22280059@N07/2867560433 . -- Last edit: 2013-06-27 02:22:58 |

Seddon Pennine 4-236 Long Life Midi-Bus, often simply known as 'Midi'. SELNEC ordered four examples on an 'L' suffix plate, registered YDB 453-455L and XBN 976L respectively. However, the rear window design on this example does not match that of the 1972 'L' suffix orders, meaning this bus was part of five separate batches ordered by both SELNEC and successor GMPTE between August 1973 and February 1975. Registrations were XVU 334-364M, BNE 729N, GND 509N, HJA 121-126N and GNC 276N. -- Last edit: 2013-08-02 23:52:33 |

I'm fairly sure this plate is L suffix - M or N would look different - and it may even be 45xL (but that is a bit ambitious). |

Both XBN 976L and YDB 453-455L featured a different rear-end design to this bus, notice these photos for reference - http://www.flickr.com/photos/scottishcoachman/7316751474/, Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" Compare with this photo of preserved XVU 352M at the Greater Manchester Transport Museum - http://www.flickr.com/photos/islandyorkie/5641431336/in/photostream/ |

Everything I do on laptop (playback, original capture etc) still looks L, ..... but have just tried playing it through TV and it does start looking like 3xxM, so one of the XVU sequence. Glass's gives XVU+M as Aug 73 (and YVU+M as Nov 73), but DVLA has XVU 352M under SEDDON/ATKINSON - Date of First Registration - 01 07 1974, Year of Manufacture - 1974. |

These were replaced by simlar bodied Dennis Dominos, which lasted until the Metrolink Trams started operating & there was no need for a Piccadilly - Victoria bus shuttle service. |
