In the foreground and to the left of the two people, you can see two post-war Japanese Stop signs. They were modeled after the American-style octagon-shaped signs and have "止まれ" (STOP) written on them. It wasnt till the late 60's that Japan switched over to the triangular signs they have now, but in very rural areas, you just may see an old octagon sign. |
