Genuine S2. Used by a girl in the first race. Driven quiet hard and fast (but no stunts or crashing) until spinning out at an intersection. 2 stars because... S2! |

An article was published on Motor Trend that featured an interview with the film's car crew. They expressly said that the 944 (by name) was a replica. "Picture car coordinator Steve Mann gives a rundown of some of the other cars assembled for "Need for Speed." Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Spano GTA, Saleen S7, McLaren P1, '69 Torino, '66 GTO, '68 Camaro, PORSCHE 944, BMW 3.0." Read more: Link to "www.motortrend.com" -- Last edit: 2014-03-22 02:17:33 |

Okay. But why would they use a replica? Its used for only 2 minutes and does not crash. So why a replica? |

Saying the cars were assembled just means they were prepped for the shoot....it doesn't necessarily mean all the cars listed were replicas. |

In the context of that quotation, I think that "assembled" means "brought together". |

Maybe they repared a junkyard car... |

As I've tried to explain, the word "assembled" in the Motor Trend article has nothing to do with building or rebuilding cars. In English you could say "we assembled a team of footballers", and the word is used in the same way here. |

It's a 944 Turbo 220PS. Turbo badge is visible and the wheels are specific for 220PS version. American version, of course. |

Cool car and my neighbor has a red one. |
◊ 2015-08-11 02:10 |
It's getting a engine swap( switching from v6 to v8) |
◊ 2015-08-11 10:13 |
The 944 had an inline 4 cylinder engine, not a V6. |
◊ 2015-08-12 03:40 |
True, with engine sizes of 2.5, 2.7, and 3.0. Those unrelated to the 944 are common V-6 sizes. |

A little late, but I agree with Delarosa, the car isn't an S2, but a Turbo (951) This is suggested by the color, Summer Yellow, which was available for the 944 only from 1987 to 1988, meaning it was never available for the S2. on top of that, the car has a Turbo badge on the rear, and no 16 Ventiler script on the side moulding. |
