Lynx or Nine Lynx?? |

Nine Lynx. I can't remember whether this applied to the Lynx, but several models were available in Nine and Fifteen versions, e.g. Lincock. |

The Lynx tourer body could be fitted to the Nine, the Twelve-Six, the 1 1/2 Litre, the Fourteen-Six, the Fifteen-Six and the Big Four. Following the takeover of Riley by Nuffield, whose business was aligned to making profits rather than cars, Riley's model range was severely pruned. -- Last edit: 2014-01-25 10:15:46 |

I chanced across this MG SA by Charlesworth on fleabay Link to "www.ebay.co.uk" The profile and door shapes look pretty close, but no rad to check make. Charlesworth did a few variations on this style. |

Another as it pulls away ![]() High mounted rear lights, with 2nd on right only. Offset square rear plate looks 1234 A format (all of which as issued are 1953 or later so a re-registration if genuine) or ABC x format where x is a single digit. |

I made my own screen capture of this episode as part of my Foyle's War collection. With some limited sort of idea there appears to be a letter 'L' as the end of the top line. Perhaps something like (x)ML (n) or (x)NL (n) (x)= unknown single letter (n) unknown single number. |

ANL was the only pre-war xNL combination (from July 39); xML ran from AML (1933) to KML (1939) so is more likely. |

Almost certainly 'ABL 6' 1936 Riley Lynx 12/4 tourer http://www.flickr.com/photos/norfolkboy1/14338680689/ |

For it to be a Riley Lynx 12/4 tourer it would need to be a late 1935 car registered in 1936 (12/4 chassis) rather than the new 1½ litre chassis. source: http://rileyrob.co.uk/specs/12-4.htm -- Last edit: 2014-08-18 14:45:28 |

Further on this car, a friend saw this car a few weeks ago. It seems to be a Riley Lynx but the spare tire isn't in the right place. The hood ornament and lines look the same though. This one looks to be in fine shape. ![]() -- Last edit: 2016-04-24 18:06:19 |

Riley Motor Club magazine "The Riley Record" June 2016 issue was pleased to discover that we have this car posted, and keeps the reference to it as a 12/4 Lynx so we've probably got it right. |

This is (was) a 1936 Adelphi Saloon, cut down to look like a 12/4 Lynx. Reasonably well done, but one can tell that it has the wide-track chassis and axles. So, I suggest describing it as a 1936 Riley 12/4 Special. -- Last edit: 2019-03-17 18:28:27 |
