I think that says Morris Mini on the boot.

It's a 1966 (D-suffix plate) Austin Mini in Deluxe trim.

I think 1965MY was when the Super De Luxe trim became just De Luxe (Super De Luxe only reappeared with the Mini Mk II). This circa 1965/66 sales brochure (Hydrolastic suspension cars) shows that the range was composed by the Mini saloon and the Mini De Luxe saloon. So the car on the pic is a 1966 De Luxe (with separated words in order to keep with the BMC nomenclature).

I owned a May 1965 Austin Mini Super Deluxe (hydrolastic) - definitely 'Super Deluxe' at the time so may have changed for 1966 although I cannot confirm it.

Here you confirm it was a De Luxe. ;)

Agreed - Sept 64 changeover (when Hydrolastic introduced)

I had two cars each for about two years both were second hand about one year old at the time. Good to drive reliabilty very poor but the rust took over after only two years.

The Super Deluxe (or De Luxe) I owned was Almond Green.

The 'Maroon B' Mini was another car.

As a quick search another 1965 Super De Luxe ("This 1966 Austin Mini Mk I 'Super Deluxe' was built on 25th October 1965") This appears to be full of verifiable detail for the actual car....

My memory is not I think playing me tricks but I do believe my Almond Green was a Super De Luxe and was hydrolastic.

Unless the change dropping the 'Super' designation also included a equipment difference its difficult to find another way of confirming it.

edit:

http://www.minimania.com lists the chassis number designations for all the various models.

This confirms the Silverstone Auctions October 1965 example's chassis number as a 'Super De Luxe'.

Chassis Number: A-A2S7- >S< /804876-A >S< = Super DeLuxe >D< = DeLuxe

Glass's just records the name change in Sept 64 without comment, so no equipment difference (apart from small 65my upgrades which applied across all versions; their entries for Morris Mini Minor are exactly the same). I must admit that I'd always assumed Super Deluxe ran through until Oct 67 Mk2 launch, so surprised - but impressed - by rpcm's findings.
