in spite of the movies claim that all vehicles are period, I reckon this is a 1950s east European truck |

having seen the film, it is definitely a post war truck remodelled to look like a wartime one. Possibly something like these, but until a better shot of the radiator is available it will probably have to remain unknown. /vehicles_make-MAN_model-F2+H6.html /vehicles_make-B%FCssing_model-8000+S+13.html -- Last edit: 2014-12-21 22:10:40 |

Should they be Wehrmacht-soldiers? If yes, except some single tin hats, the whole equipment is anachronistic. It's 90ies-stuff, brand new at my times there in 1990/91. The balaclava of the guy in the foreground is hardcore-anachronistic plus the fact, that regular German soldiers never wear them. |

Well, the Waffen-SS did have camouflage patterns, so perhaps the producers used the Bundeswehr Flecktarn as a rough substitute. Maybe they got a good deal on surplus uniforms. ![]() P.S. Wikpedia says that when Flecktarn was developed it was criticised for being too similar to Waffen-SS patterns. -- Last edit: 2014-12-12 23:19:33 |

Found it! This very truck is on eBay at the mo, turns out it is a 1964 Csepel d344 /vehicles_make-Csepel_model-D-344.html Link to "pages.ebay.com" On the subject of the camo, it is very authentic, they went to extreme lengths to replicate SS camo material and uniforms. They used balaclavas on the eastern front, so while in April 45 after six years of war and with the entire country's infrastructure in tatters pretty much anything could have been seen. If anything they possibly look too new. -- Last edit: 2014-12-21 22:56:50 |

On the vehicle you've linked to, I think that the original bonnet and radiator grille have been covered with armour plate, so they won't help identify the base vehicle. |

Looks like they used three of them for the film as they are all up on Milweb now... http://www.milweb.net/classifieds/large_image.php?ad=75507&cat=3 |
